You're Engaged... Now What?

So you have a sparkly ring on your ring finger, a fluttering of butterflies in your stomach as you imagine the day you’ll say ‘I do’ and a mild panic as the million things you need to do to get to that moment flood your mind. Which is where Ready or Knot comes in.

Tell friends and family. Yes it is so easy to Tweet news of your engagement in 140 characters, or Instagram a sparkly ring selfie but finding out someone you love is getting married through social media does not make one feel loved or important, so take the time to tell friends and family personally. You can always enlist the help of your mum or a friend.

Ring sized and insured. If your ring is slightly on the small or large side get it resized ASAP so that you don’t lose it or have your finger turn blue! Insuring it is also uber important.

Get a manicure. EVERYONE is going to be asking to see your hand so treat yourself to a manicure.

Daydream. Run a bubble bath, light some candles and grab a stack of wedding magazines. Oh and join Pinterest.

Buy a scrapbook and discover the joys of tearing out and sticking down images of pretty dresses, gorgeous flowers and sparkly shoes. How else does one plan a wedding?

Relax. Do not let wedding planning drive you crazy. Do not let it consume your every waking thought. Take time out for yourself – enjoy a book, a hot bath, a funny movie, a date night. It doesn’t matter what you do, just be sure to take some ‘you time’.

Talk about dates. You’ll hear ‘congratulations’, ‘show me your ring’, ‘how you were proposed to’ and then ‘when’s the big day?’. You don’t need an exact date but having an answer like ‘late summer 2016’ will be helpful.

Wedding budget. Having a vague budget in mind will be useful before you start looking at suppliers and venues.

Venue. From this will spring so many other decisions. The theme, the flowers, the dress. If there are any venues in particular you have your heart set on book appointments to view asap as popular venues get booked really

Buy an organiser. This will help you keep track of all wedding related appointments and activities that will be coming your way very soon!
