Top 10 Wedding Day Perfumes

Jean Paul Guerlain once said ‘perfume is the most intense form of memory’ which basically epitomises the romance behind perfume. Yes you will smell amazing and perfume has a wonderful way of influencing how you feel but most of all it is a magnificent way of storing and recalling feelings and memories and thus the perfect way to ensure the emotions of your wedding day can be recalled by you in an age to come. (More on why perfume is so important here.

We bring you our top 10 wedding day perfumes

Elie Saab

Although this list is in no particular order, this super-feminine, sensual and addictive scent is undoubtedly my absolute favourite. I’d describe this as a floral yet woody scent exuding elegance and sophistication with a pinch of playfulness. The top notes are orange blossom, with a heart of jasmine and base notes of rose honey accord and patchouli.

Coco Mademoiselle

This is such a wonderfully sweet and spicy, yet fresh scent. It has top notes of orange, jasmine and rose, middle of cloves, orange blossom, clover and rose and a base of amber, sandalwood and vanilla. I think this is such a lovely scent for an autumn bride.

Ralph Lauren Romance

The name itself so aptly lends itself to being the perfect wedding day scent and the fragrance is no less bridal. The top notes consist of rose and citrus, followed by water lily, white violet, carnation and ginger with the base of white musk and patchouli.

Live in Love

Oscar de la Renta’s wedding gowns are amongst the most coveted, beautiful and romantic dresses you will set your eyes upon, each one imaginable on a princess. So it comes as no surprise that his perfume exudes romance. I’d describe this as a sunny spring day with notes of lily-of-the-valley, hyacinth, jasmine, amber and sandalwood.

Vera Wang Pink Princess

A beautifully fruity, floral and flirty wedding day fragrance, the bride will absolutely feel like a princess wearing this! It opens with pink grapefruit and raspberry sorbet, which gives way to hibiscus and honeysuckle with a base of marshmallow and white amber.

Miss Dior

This is such a feminine and playful yet elegant scent, spicy and floral in equal parts. Fruity top notes are dominated by mandarin and followed through with a middle of Turkish and Bulgarian rose,  all set with base notes of patchouli, amber and vanilla.

Vera Wang Lovestruck

Vera Wang describes this fragrance as ‘a new definition of Romeo and Juliet’ and it is so apt for a bridal fragrance. Top notes of pink guava and blossom give way to tuberose and lotus flower and musk forms a lovely base. This is a perfect balance of exotic and floral and so completely exudes romance.

Tom Ford Black Orchid

This scent is sensual, dramatic and captivating, with top notes of black truffle, ylang and blackcurrant, a heart of black orchid and a base of patchouli, incense, amber and vanilla. Black orchids are so delightfully rare and this fragrance is so unique.

Chanel No 5

Quite possibly the most famous perfume in the world is famous for a reason, it is amazing. It all began when Coco Chanel asked her perfumer, Ernest Beaux, for a scent that ‘smelled like a woman, not like a bed of roses’ and thus Chanel No 5 was born. It has top notes of aldehydes, bergamot, lemon, neroli and ylang-ylang, a middle of jasmine, rose, lily of the valley and iris, and the base is vetiver, sandalwood, vanilla, amber and patchouli.

Jo Malone Red Roses

Roses are the ultimate symbolisation of love and so it would be so apt for a bride to wear this on her wedding day. The smell of roses comes through beautifully, the Bulgarian rose is complimented with violet leaf, beeswax and lemon and mint. It would be so perfect for a summer bride.
