Tale of 2014's Three Celebrity Brides

2014 saw three very different brides walk down the aisle in probably the three biggest weddings of the year. One was a reality TV star, one a Hollywood actress and humanitarian campaigner and the other a high-flying, multi-lingual human rights lawyer

The first wedding saw the world’s press head to renaissance Florence, Italy, in May, where Kim Kardashian was to marry Kanye in a wedding totalling £7 million. The bride was inspired by Kate Middleton’s elegant wedding to Prince William, but this wedding required all guests to hand over mobile phones and the groom took four days to edit a photo of him and his bride before allowing her to post it to her Instagram page where it became the most liked photo ever. The bride wore a Givenchy lace sleeved gown, with a sheer back for the ceremony and changed into a mini Balmain, plunging neck, embellished dress for the reception.

Move forward three months and there was the wedding of Angelina and Brad. This couple married in an intimate ceremony in the South of France, attended by just 22 guests, including their six children. Angelina wore a Versace gown, embroidered by doodles done by the couple’s children.

Finally in September we had the beautiful wedding of Amal Alamuddin to old-school Hollywood actor George Clooney in the City of Love, Venice, in a ceremony officiated by the former mayor of Rome, with an after-party at the Cipriani and a civil ceremony a few days later. The bride wore an array of divine outfits, from a fairy-tale off-the-shoulder Oscar de la Renta lace dress, to a Stella McCartney trouser suit and wide-brimmed hat reminiscent of Jackie O.

My favourite of the three brides has to be Amal, smart, stunning, powerful and stylish, as a bride she was elegance and beauty personified. Here’s to all the celebrity weddings we have to look forward to in 2015!
