Honeymoon Make-Up Essentials

On a recent holiday to Bali (definitely where I'd rather be right now) there were gorgeous turquoise waters, sandy beaches, clear skies and everything one would expect of a tropical holiday destination. Also I noticed there were a few categories of people, the first and most common category had make-up running down their faces quicker than Usain Bolt. The second category had faces so red they looked like they'd been fried to within an inch of their lives. The third had perfected 35-degree Celsius make-up to a 't' and if that's the category you want to be in, read on.

Firstly you definitely need to invest in a sun protector. A few of my faves include MAC Prep and Prime SPF 50 and for oilier skins the oil-free Clarins UV Plus HP SPF 40 is ideal.

Secondly, unless you want a lot of coverage, opt for a BB Cream or tinted moisturiser rather than going for a foundation. YSL's BB Cream is fantastic, and gives a lovely holiday glow. Clinique's Moisture Surge CC Cream SPF 30 is also a good option for non-oily skins. Oilier skins may want to set with powder - Bobbi Brown's Sheer Finish Pressed Powder is a great choice for this - it's oil-free and oil-absorbing.

Lips are often neglected when it comes to SPF, but the skin on your lips is amongst the thinnest on your entire body and definitely needs to be protected. Firstly the sun's rays age lips and also increases the risk of skin cancer, so a lip balm with an SPF is absolutely vital. Nivea's SPF 30 balm is a great investment.
